General Practice Data for Planning and Research (GPDPR)

There has been a lot of publicity recently about changes being made to the way the NHS shares information it holds for patients. The commencement of the data uploads for GPDPR have been deferred until 1st September 2021.

Further information and a helpful video explaining what information will be shared is now available online General Practice Data for Planning and Research (GPDPR) – NHS Digital.

Patients can opt out online and via the NHS app. On the NHS app it can be found in the “Your Health” section and then by selecting Chooseif data from your health record is used for research and planning.

The web address for patients to opt out or in directly is Make your choice about sharing data from your health records – NHS (www.nhs.uk).

Opting out of GPDPR does not stop your information being shared for your direct medical care.
